What ShortsLab reads
When the channel owner connects a YouTube account, ShortsLab uses YouTube API Services to read the selected channel's name and ID, video and scheduling details, and performance reports such as engaged views, average percentage watched, and shares. It also reads public video metadata and view counts for editorial research.
How ShortsLab uses the data
ShortsLab uses this information to check that it is publishing to the chosen channel, schedule original episodes, and compare their performance. The episode and its publishing metadata are sent to YouTube when uploaded. ShortsLab does not sell Google user data or use it for advertising or model training. ShortsLab's use of Google user data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Storage and removal
Connection details, scheduling records, and reports are stored on the channel owner's computer. Windows encrypts the OAuth token for the local user. ShortsLab refreshes or expires stored viewing reports and refreshes the public research cache. The owner can revoke access in Google Account connections and remove stored reports and connection data by deleting the local .youtube folder. Content already on YouTube can be managed in YouTube Studio.
